Supporting the mission of Ideas Worth Spreading, TEDxTehran events are local, independently organized events licensed by TED that bring people living in Tehran together to share a TED-like experience. We bring thought leaders, innovators, and doers, from across different disciplines, to share their ideas and stories in the heart of Tehran. In the spirit of TED’s “Ideas Worth Spreading”, we strive to bring “Make Iran Famous for its Ideas”.
All of our TEDx licenses are granted under the umbrella of TEDxTehran. For the year 2020, we are planning to organize an amazing TEDxTehran event (July 2020), a fabulous TEDxYouth@Tehran event (February 2020), an effective TEDxTehranWomen event (December 2019), and multiple TEDxTehranSalon events. All dates are tentative and thus confidential.
Interested in being part of the TEDxTehran organizing team? Great! We’re glad you’re here. Organizing TEDxTehran is a truly rewarding experience that can help make amazing friendships and learning new skills.
Before you begin, there are a few things we need from you:
All TEDxTehran core team members must have previously attended a TEDxTehran event. This is important for a number of reasons, but mostly because there is simply no way to fully understand what TEDxTehran is all about without experiencing it firsthand. We strongly recommend you actually participate in the event-day team (observing is not enough).
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxTehran, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxTehran event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
TEDx is a global program that is brought to life by thousands of individuals all over the world—which calls for some ground rules. These rules are non-negotiable and mandatory for all team members—because it’s both our job and yours to maintain the integrity of the TEDx vision.
A standard TEDxTehran event takes 6 to 10 months to organize. Core team members work remotely and report on what they have done every week in Skype meetings. Your duties may vary based on your role in the team, but here are some basic ones:
As a core team member, you will be a member of one (or more) of the following teams:
A good team should be self-organizing and cross-functional. To be self-organizing, teams should choose how best to accomplish event’s goals, rather than being managed by others outside the team. To be cross-functional, teams have all competencies needed to accomplish the work without depending on others not part of the team.
As a team member, we expect you help your director organize and manage your team perfectly.
We’ll be here to help you every step of the way. Let’s begin the journey…
