well as a civil engineer and environmental scientist. She’s a recognized global expert on disaster-resilient housing and infrastructure and the founder and CEO of Build Change,
a nonprofit social enterprise working in areas struck by hurricanes and earthquakes in seven countries in Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean. With more than 250 employees, Build Change designs disaster-resistant housing and schools, trains homeowners, builders, engineers and public officials to build them, works with governments to develop and implement building standards, partners with the
private sector to improve the quality of building materials and facilitates access to capital for reconstruction and retrofitting. Among other recognitions, she received the 2017 Skoll Award for Social Entrepreneurship.
